Sacred thangka painting talk and demo on Saturday

Sacred thangka painting will be the subject of a talk and demonstration Saturday by Venerable Lobsang Tsultrim at Windhorse Rugs in Grass Valley.

Thangka is a silk or fabric scroll painting, created for aesthetic and evocable purposes.

Tsultrim’s 3 p.m. talk is presented by Sierra Friends of Tibet in cooperation with Windhorse Rugs. Proceeds will go toward the restoration of Tsultrim’s village monastery in Tibet, the Nyentse monastery, and the building of an orphanage there.



Suggested admission is $15. Since seating is limited, reservations are recommended.

Windhorse Rugs is at 120 N. Auburn St.
