Ryan runs Miners to DVC win

Cameron Ryan rushed for 241 yards and three touchdowns – and added 76 receiving yards and another score through the air – as Nevada Union’s junior varsity downed host Laguna Creek 46-25 to improve to 2-0 in the Delta Valley Conference.

The Miners (4-3 overall) rushed for 346 yards, while quarterback John Wivholm completed 7-of-9 passes for another 87 yards and two touchdowns.

Joel Lemay added 25 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Miners.

“It was great offensive line play, great blocking,” said NU coach Troy Spangler. ” We don’t get anything if they don’t block like that.

“(Ryan) made some great moves himself, but we had some great blocking from our offensive linemen.”

Those linemen include center Kyle Klauer, Tyler Detinger, Devin Rowe, Cameron Dixon, Josh Finau, Nick Souza and Sam Cartan.

Defensively, NU was led by Cory George’s seven tackles, while Keenan Morris had six stops and Jordan Mosburger, Justin Noxon and Henry Harrison each finished with five tackles.

George also forced a fumble, while Detinger and Brandon Stevens each recovered fumbles for the Miners. Mosburger had two quarterback sacks, while Mikeal Oller ahd an interception.
