Ruth Westman

Ruth Ramona Davis Westman died Sept. 28 at home in Grass Valley. She was 91.

Private services will be held for family members at a later date in El Cerrito. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Mausoleum in El Cerrito.

Mrs. Westman was born Sept. 26, 1916, to Hugh George Davis and Albertina Bechert in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Honolulu and from business college in Oakland.



In 1960, she married James Westman in Reno, Nev.

Mrs. Westman worked for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. and Albany Unified School District. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.




Mrs. Westman is survived by her son, Raymond Brackett, of Albany; daughter, Patricia Brackett Chapman of Beaverton, Ore.; granddaughters Eileen Darnielle of Beaverton, Ore., Nöel Ables of Sea Brook, Texas, and Audrey Brackett of Willits; grandsons James and Rickey Brackett of Willits and Shawn Montoya of Queen Creek, Ariz.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Westman, in 1969, and daughter, Joan Brackett Montoya, in 1983.

Mrs. Westman’s family would like to thank Alice and Darrel Schafer for loving and caring for Mrs. Westman for six years.

Memorial contributions can be sent to Hospice of the Foothills, 2399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley, CA 95945.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
