Ruth Hunter

Memorial services for Ruth Odell Hunter of Cedar Ridge will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Grass Valley. Burial will be at the New Elm Ridge Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Hunter died Monday, Jan. 10, in Grass Valley. She was 93.

She was born Dec. 17, 1911, in Arcadia, Kan., to Martha and William Shefendecker. She married D.O. Hunter in 1931 in Los Angeles. She worked as an administrative assistant in the health care industry for over 40 years. She was active in First Baptist Church, Grass Valley for many years.



She is survived by her son, Richard Hunter of San Leandro; and granddaughters Jennifer Hunter of San Francisco and Rachel Hunter of Boston, Mass. She was preceded in death by her husband, D.O. Hunter, in 1957; and son, Thomas Lee Hunter, in 2004.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
