Ruth Cardin

Memorial services for Ruth L. Cardin of Grass Valley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Grass Valley Methodist Church, 236 S. Church St.

Mrs. Cardin died Tuesday, Aug. 31, in Grass Valley. She was 92.

She was born Sept. 14, 1911, in Seattle, Wash., to Robert Leslie and Nellie Binger. She received a B.A. from U.C.L.A. and a graduate studies in English literature at U.S. C. Sacramento State College and Lone Mountain College in San Francisco. She was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Military Corps during World War II. She married Ben L. Cardin on April 29, 1945, in Los Angeles. She taught elementary, junior and senior school in Southern California. She moved to Grass Valley in 1951, and taught at Nevada Union High School. She also taught public speaking at Sierra College. She was a member of the Grass Valley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, church activities, reading, music and the theater.



She is survived by her daughter, Jean Cardin Ziaja of San Francisco; and son-in-law, John Ziaja of San Francisco. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben L. Cardin in 1987.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grass Valley United Methodist Church, 236 S. Church St., Grass Valley 95945.
