Russell Hoxsie

Services for Russell Gordon Hoxsie of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose.

Mr. Hoxsie died Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Grass Valley. He was 87.

He was born April 13, 1915, in New York to Nellie and Joshua B. Hoxsie. He graduated from high school and married Mary on Aug. 1, 1936. He retired from IBM after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Grass Valley United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children, James Russell Hoxsie of Grass Valley, Edwin Lee Hoxsie of Gilbert, Ariz., and Marilyn Joyce Lewis of San Jose; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in May 2000.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grass Valley Senior Center, 11350 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley 95945.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
