Rub shoulders with a bunch of bands

Golden Shoulders performs tonight at The Center for the Arts, along with Blue Tuesday and Berkeley-based The Morning Benders, whose most recent EP release is “Loose Change.” It’s all part of Grass Roots Record Company Happenings as the company presents a School’s Out for Summer Rock ‘n’ Roll Party that starts at 7 p.m.

A loosely assembled group of musicians from Nevada City, Golden Shoulders released a third CD in 2006, “Kin.” The group’s earlier release, “Friendship Is Deep,” garnered a four-star review in MOJO The Music Magazine and inspired a completely unamplified, electricity-free U.S. tour.

Opening is Blue Tuesday, playing edgy pop. In the two years these high-school students have been together, they’ve already released two albums.

Tickets for $10, $8 with a high school ID, are available in Grass Valley at the center’s box office, 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley, (530) 274-8384, ext. 14, and at BriarPatch Co-op; in Nevada City at After the Gold Rush; online at http://www.the; and at the door, if available.
