Rotary cleans Deer Creek

Submitted to The Union

Each year, members of the 49er Breakfast Rotary Club of Nevada City gather along Deer Creek to clean the creek banks and prepare the race course for the club’s Gold Country Duck Race. Pictured above is the crew that gathered Saturday morning (Sept. 6). This year’s 23rd annual Duck Race will include up to 9,000 toy ducks racing down the rapids of Deer Creek. The winning duck brings its ticket-holder a $5,000 grand prize. Action begins at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 14)
