Memorial services for Rodger Reid McAlister of Lake Wildwood will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.

Mr. McAlister died Wednesday, April 24, in Penn Valley. He was 78.

He was born on June 13, 1923, in Donora, Pa., to John and Mary McAlister.

He served in the Merchant Marines from 1942-1946.

He attended the University of Iowa.

Mr. McAlister married Dorothea on Oct. 22, 1960, in New Haven, Conn.

He was a hospital administrative engineer for 46 years. He enjoyed skiing, golf and reading.

Mr. McAlister is survived by his wife, Dorothea McAlister of Penn Valley; sister, Alice Leveton of Milford, Conn.; son and daughter-in-law, Rodger and Marilyn McAlister of Louisville, Ky.; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Thorn Hunzicker of San Dimas; grandchildren Rodger, Brad and Garrett of Louisville, Kellie of Powell, Ohio, and Alicia and Tommy of San Dimas; great-grandchildren Amy, Jack, Joe, Joshua, John and Todd of Powell and Kaylin and Sue of Victorville.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
