Robert Short

Robert Gerald Short died Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Grass Valley. He was 80.

At his request, no services will be held.

Mr. Short was born in San Dimas on March 29, 1922. He attended San Dimas Grammar School and Bonita Union High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

He married his wife, Mary, on Sept. 6, 1947, in Reno. He was a maintenance supervisor at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. He also worked for Helms Bakery.

Mr. Short was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Short of Grass Valley; daughter Carolyn Short of Brookings, Ore.; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Ken Pearson of Grass Valley and Roberta and Jim King of Elizabeth, Colo.; brother Everett Short; brothers and sisters-in-law John E. and Manette Short and Raymond and Patsy Short; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, William P. Short; and brother, George W. Short.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
