Robert Montgomery

Robert John Montgomery of Downieville died Wednesday, Aug. 14, at home at the age of 71. At his request, no services were held.

He was born Dec. 15, 1930, in Denver to John D. and Dorothy G. Montgomery. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he began a career in electronics sales and eventually became sales manager for a large company in Palo Alto.

After an auto accident left him totally blind at age 45, he became involved in civic and social affairs. He served on the Sierra County Grand Jury, and was a director and president of Sierra Services for the Blind in Nevada City.



Mr. Montgomery is survived his son Michael J. Montgomery of Reno; sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Lois Montgomery of Auburn and Patrick and Helene Montgomery of San Jose; daughter Paula Montgomery of Redding; daughter and son-in-law Carla and Marc Anderson of Taylorsville, Utah; first wife Janine Ramsey; second wife Jo Montgomery; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.

The family requests memorial contributions to Sierra Services for the Blind, 546 Searls Ave., Nevada City 95959.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
