Robert Danos

Graveside services for Robert A. Danos of Nevada City will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City. A reception will follow at the Nevada City Elks Lodge.

Mr. Danos died Sunday, July 4, at a local hospital. He was 67.

He was born Jan. 11, 1937, in Nevada City, to George and Emily Danos. He attended Nevada City Elementary School and graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958. He married Phyllis Goble on Feb. 8, 1960. He worked for the U. S. Postal Service in Nevada City. After his military discharge, he worked for Standard Oil and then Chevron. He was a member and past chief of the Nevada City Fire Department and a member of the Nevada City Elks, No. 518. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and trips to Tahoe.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Danos of Nevada City; daughters Susan Buchanan, and Robin Danos both of Nevada City; son, Jeffrey Danos of Nevada City; sister and brother-in-law, Georgine and Don Wasley of Nevada City; and brother and sister-in-law, James and Gladys Danos of Nevada City. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lucille D. Dawson.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
