Rita Blessing

A farewell sendoff will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20, in the back of Pioneer Park, by the rocks, for Rita “Nana” Kay Blessing.

Ms. Blessing passed away May 16 at home in Grass Valley. She was 68.

Ms. Blessing was born Dec. 30, 1938, to Iva Sage and Thoral Black in Illinois.



During her life, she enjoyed reading, gardening, baking and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always about family, loved nature and reading by rivers and creeks. She also loved to teach all the children in her life how to bake.

Ms. Blessing is survived by her daughters Tami Lucas and Sherri Baxter; grandchildren Matt Lucas, Toni Maben, Becky Maben, Seth Lucas, Josh Maben and Maryann Lucas; great-grandchildren Kassandra, Destiny, Hailey, Elijah, Jenkia, Kaden, Carlos, James and Karri; sisters Wanda, Linda and Shirley; and brothers Ed and Mike.




Ms. Blessing touched everyone who knew her in Grass Valley. She will be missed and loved by all.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Rita Blessing Memorial Fund at Citizens Bank of Nevada County to help the family with funeral expenses.
