Ridge Meadows development approved in concept

In three weeks, approval of a 50-single family home development off of Ridge Road should be a formality.

Tuesday, Grass Valley City Council members conceptually approved Ridge Meadows while the owner of a private road and the project’s developer hammer out final details making Upper Slate Creek Road the main entrance/exit onto Ridge Meadows.

Council members rejected the private road’s owner preferred option calling for the city to purchase an easement for the road. Road owner Robert Sauer will abide by the city’s request to purchase the road, said attorney Ray Shine, who represented Sauer Tuesday.

Sauer, and the developer, Richard Kerr, need to reach a deal for Upper Slate Creek Road by 5 p.m. June 1, council members said. If a deal is reached, council members will consider formal project approval at its June 12 meeting.

The planned development rests on the 9.2 acres south of Ridge Road at Upper Slate Creek Road, just west of Hughes Road.
