Memorial services for Richard “Dick” Sterling Zembiec of North San Juan were conducted Tuesday, May 25, at St. John’s Church in North San Juan.

Mr. Zembiec died Friday, May 21, at home. He was 62.

He was born May 26, 1941, in Town of LeRay, N.Y., to Alexander Zembiec and Helen Sterling-Zembiec. He graduated from the Augustinian Academy and the New York Ranger School at Syracuse University. He married Judy LeRoux on July 7, 1962, in Carthage, N.Y. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service after 40 years of service. He was a life member of the NRA and a member of Public Lands for the People. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, shooting and photography.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Zembiec of North San Juan; son, Greg Zembiec of Yuba City; daughter, Darcy Lee of Sacramento; brothers Robert Zembiec of Springville, Tenn., and Donald Zembiec of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Joan Todd of Carthage, N.Y.; and five grandsons. He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander; mother, Helen; and daughter, Riche, in 1984.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
