Richard Schroeder Jr.

A memorial service for Richard H. Schroeder Jr. of Grass Valley will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Angels in Grass Valley.

Mr. Schroeder died Friday, Aug. 2. He was 80.

He was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Spokane, Wash., to Richard H. and Mary (Rhein) Schroeder. He was a coxswain in the U.S. Navy from 1939 to 1946 and married Jeannine on Feb. 26, 1949, in Los Angeles. He was a teamster for the San Francisco Newspaper Agency. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, the USS Tennessee Reunion Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans, and was a Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster involved in the Sea Cadet program.



Mr. Schroeder is survived by his wife, Jeannine Schroeder of Grass Valley; sons and daughters-in-law Scott and Gale Schroeder of Grass Valley and Mark and Julie Schroeder of Lafayette; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Paul Meyn of Penn Valley; grandson, Aaron Schroeder of Lafayette; granddaughter, Savannah Meyn of Penn Valley; sister and brother-in-law, LeNora and Andrew Cochran of Cassell; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Warren Sutton and his sister Ida Dora Maxwell.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the local Boy Scouts of America.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels.
