Richard Price

Richard Morgan Price, 93, of Penn Valley died Thursday, Oct. 26, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.

Mr. Price was born May 19, 1913, in Hillsboro, Ohio. He attended Duke University under a basketball scholarship. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He married Gloria Wilt in 1948 in San Jose. He played football with the Green Bay Packers from 1931 to 1932 directly out of high school.



He worked for 40 years at Standard Oil of California (now Chevron). He was President of Arizona Oil and grew avocados for 12 years in San Diego County. He served as president of the Tucson School Board, helping build the Sunrise School. He was a Master Mason, San Jose Lodge, receiving a 50-year certificate.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Price of Penn Valley; son, Gary Price; daughter, Kathleen Holland; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
