Richard Gill is back with his medicine man show

Carol Feineman

Starting today and continuing every Thursday through Aug. 26, Richard Gill will repeat his one-man show, “An Evening with the Medicine Man,” at the Nevada County Traction Co. located on the Northern Queen Inn property.

Gill, a Nevada County artist in several genres including acting, sculpting and poetry, has taken the “An Evening with the Medicine Man” show all over the United States for the last eight years. He has occasionally presented the show at the Northern Queen the past two years.

The 6:30 p.m. presentation includes a 30-minute ride on a narrow gauge train and then Gill in stories and songs portraying “The Professor,” an 1800s pitchman commonly known as a “medicine man” or “snake oil salesman.” Audience members are encouraged to bring a picnic supper and beverage with them.

Admission is $15. The Northern Queen Inn is at 400 Railroad Ave. in Nevada City.

Call 265-0896 for reservations and/or information.
