Richard Blevins

Services for Richard Blevins of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sierra Presbyterian Church in Nevada City. Burial will be private.

Mr. Blevins died Monday, March 1, in Grass Valley. He was 73.

He was born March 28, 1930, in Weiser, Idaho, to Collie Blevins and Edna Stover. He graduated from high school and officer candidate school. He was a major in the U.S. Marine Corps for 20 years, and also worked for Litton Industries for nine years. He married Barbara on June 20, 1952, in Denver, Colo. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Sierra Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed reading, collecting books, gardening and woodwork.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Blevins of Grass Valley; sons Tim Blevins of Grass Valley, and Christopher Blevins of Janesville, Wis.; daughters Linda Barton of North San Juan, and Sharon Blevins of Grass Valley; 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
