Richard Birtwhistle

Private services for Richard Connor Birtwhistle of Grass Valley will be conducted.

Mr. Birtwhistle died Monday, Jan. 24, in Citrus Heights. He was 89.

He was born in Englewood, N.J. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was on Omaha Beach during D-day. He was a electronic technician. He was a resident of Palo Alto for 31 years and of Grass Valley for 18 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, music and electronics.



He is survived by his children William Henry Birtwhistle of Sornora, Barbara Schleisman of Citrus Heights, and Thomas John Birtwhistle of Citrus Heights; brother, John Birtwhistle of Stockton; sister, Anne Diament of Carmichael; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Francis Birtwhistle.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Neptune Society of Northern California.
