Restaurants well worth the drive

We published our first review July 31, 2002, and have since featured 16 restaurants in and around Grass Valley and Nevada City.

There are other restaurants in the area worth mentioning; and we certainly plan on writing about them in future articles.

We also feel there are several restaurants within a 45 minute drive that are excellent and well-worth driving to.

Here are a few of our recommendations. We will elaborate more on some of these restaurants in future articles.

Auburn

— Miya Sushi: 770 Lincoln Way, 530-823-1252: Our favorite sushi restaurant for more than ten years and a local favorite. You must try the seared scallop appetizer.

— Kabob House: 359 Nevada Street, 530-889-0399: Excellent Greek food and very clean. Try the hummus and gyros.

— Robbers Roost: 23990 Foresthill Road, 530-367-2455: Take a beautiful drive and enjoy the view from their large dining room.

The food is excellent and there is a diverse selection to choose from. Very clean and great for the kids.

Rocklin

— Zinfandel Grille: 5450 China Garden Road, 916-630-0400 (also located in Sacramento and Folsom): Located in the Rocklin Hotel with a beautifully designed, spacious dining room. The food is outstanding and the service is excellent.

Roseville

— Buca di Beppo: 1212 Galleria Blvd, 916-771-9463: A noisy, fun place for family and friends. Large portions of favorite Italian entrees served family style.
