response from ‘Gay Marriage Ban Backer’

The people of California have voted not once, but twice, that the word “marriage” defines a union between a man and a woman.

My compelling argument is: If you take away our right to have our vote count then your gay rights aren’t going to mean a thing and you take away the only powers that the people have. This country is based on majority rule, through a vote of the people. The majority has spoken twice, and the majority has said find another word to use.

You already have all the legal rights of a married couple through California law, called “domestic partners.” Why do you feel you need to destroy the one thing that gives people in our country any power whatsoever?

Are you so selfish that you’d make a vote of the people a meaningless thing just to get your word? A word to you is more important than the freedom and democracy that our once great nation was founded on?

If you need the word, go some place the people have approved the word “marriage” for gay unions. The people of California have not.
