Republican Oath

The website has a Republican Oath that includes the following:

“I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.”

Free enterprise involves open competition on a level playing field. In Iraq, the Bush Administration awarded no-bid contracts to Haliburton, formerly headed by Vice President Dick Cheney. Kellogg Brown & Root, a subsidiary of Haliburton, has been accused of overcharging the army $61 million dollars. Haliburton paid the army partial restitution, but never admitted wrong doing. Do you believe this represents free enterprise?

“I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.”

President Bush began his term with a budget surplus, but with the Republican Congress increased discretionary spending 26%. Revenues also decreased with large tax cuts, leading to the worst increase in the deficit since WW II. The 2004 deficit is now expected to set a new record topping $400 billion. Do you believe this reckless deficit spending is fiscally responsible?

As a Republican, can you vote for George Bush with a clear conscience? Remember, your vote indicates you approve of his past actions and want more of the same.
