At the Sierra Vista Covenant Church, the Sunday sermon will be The Goal of Prayer, text: Mark 1:35-39. The pastor is Don Moore.
Jesus prayed. Why? Because he was about to be offered every leader’s dream: “Everyone is looking for you!” Because of his authority over nature, demons, and disease, not long after this people would try to make him king!
But Jesus’ goal was not to be popular. His goal was to undo the work of Satan and to enable people to experience the love of God. Having emptied himself of his divine attributes while incarnate, Jesus needed to be intimately connected to the Father in order to accomplish his goal. So, he prayed. If you want intimate connection to God, so will you.
