Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

The Auburn Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold the semiannual Conference Saturday and Sunday at the Stake Center at 1255 Bell Rd. in Auburn.

The conference will also be broadcast via satellite from the Auburn Stake Center to the Nevada City Building at 615 Hollow Way, Nevada City.



People are encouraged to carpool to the live session in Auburn or the satellite session in Nevada City.

The conference will be under the guidance of the Auburn Stake President Michael Dahle. On Saturday an adult evening session will be held at 5:30 p.m.




On Sunday, the conference will begin at 10 a.m. Stake music chairman, Maggie Copeland said, Nevada City, Grass Valley and Penn Valley choirs will combine to sing on Sunday. The choir will sing: “Praise to the Man” and “Faith in Every Footstep.” Penn Valley choir director Lyn Worley will lead the choirs.

Sierra Presbyterian Church

Senior Pastor Scott Dickson will be preaching on “Heat Through Servanthood” (Phil 2:5-8) in his final message in the series of “Life at the Boiling Point” at the three services (Traditional 8:30 a.m.; Contemporary 10 a.m.; and Way Contemporary 11:30 a.m.). The Children’s Ministry is now operational during the 10 and 11:30 a.m. services, youth and college age at 10 a.m. and infant and child care for the younger set at all three services.

Mark your calendars for the Christmas Concert to be held Dec. 12 at 4 and 7 p.m. The theme addresses how the Christmas story intersects with our lives today.

United Methodist Church

Friday Grass Valley United Methodist Church will host The Last Supper, a free meal at 6 p.m. sponsored by the Nevada County churches. Coats and blankets for those in need will be distributed at the dinner.

Sunday services are held at 8:45 a.m. with Sunday School for all ages, and at 10:30 a.m. Childcare is provided at both services. Children’s chimes practice is at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Starting on Nov. 28, children will be rehearsing for their Christmas pageant to be performed Dec. 19. Pageant practice starts at 10:30 a.m.

A variety of adult fellowship opportunities such as Prayers and Squares quilting group on Fridays at 9:30 a.m. or Men’s Breakfast at IHOP Wednesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. are available and open to all.

Grass Valley United Methodist Church is looking for a child care provider to work Sundays. For more information call the church at 272-1946. Grass Valley United Methodist Church is located at 236 S. Church St. in Grass Valley.

Healing Rooms of Nevada County

Healing Rooms of Nevada County are open each Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Living Well Medical Clinic, 113 Presley Way. We pray for healing for the body, soul and spirit. Everyone is welcome whether you attend church or not.

Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains

The Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains service will be Thanksgiving Sunday, “An Attitude of Gratitude,” middle school youth and Rev. Joy Atkinson.

Our young people are planning this Thanksgiving service, to include singing and celebrating, and opportunities for all of us to express our gratitude for the gifts of life.

Services are held Sundays at 11 a.m. with child care and religious education at the same time at the corner of South Church and Walsh streets in Grass Valley. Videos of last week’s service are shown on Cable Channel 11 at 2 and 6 p.m on Sundays and at 1 p.m. on Thursdays.

Word-A-Live! Family Church invites all to their 10 a.m. Sunday morning exciting and anointed contemporary Christian Worship Service.

Word-A-Live! is nondenominational and networks with Christian International where Pastors Mike and Sandra Chipchase are ordained.

Women’s Ministry countywide Bible Study is Thursdays 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. repeated on Monday evenings 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. with Beth Moore’s series “Living Beyond Yourself.”

Friday Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. is Youth Night.
