Lavender Roses, a theater piece designed to create better understanding between lesbian/gay and straight faithful is scheduled to be performed Friday, Nov. 17, at the Grass Valley Elks Lodge, Main and School streets, Grass Valley. A donation of $10 is suggested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The Lavender Roses originated their script in 1994 and have been delighting audiences with humor, music and poignant stories of the joys and challenges of being lesbian in a religious community. The wacky moments of this play may lack reverence but never lack sensitivity.

Paul Perry entertains for the 6:30 p.m. cocktail hour (no- host bar and refreshments). The play is at 7:30 p.m., followed by dialogue with the cast at 8:30 p.m.

Congregations co-sponsoring the event are Sierra Center for Positive Living, Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains, and Unity in the Gold Country. For more information, call 274-1018.
