Good News Project

The Good News Project offers prayer for healing every Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sierra Vista Covenant Church at 10064 Streeter Road, Unit 5. Streeter Road is located 1/4 mile south of Highway 49 and Combie Road intersection. Follow signs to the rear of the building where offices are located.

Grass Valley First Baptist Church

A joint Sunday School potluck breakfast is this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Bring a goodie to share. The Bible study time will begin at 9:30 a.m. this week. Worship is at 10:30 a.m. Guest Pastor, David Hagey will continue his studies in Ephesians. A nursery is provided for babies and preschoolers.




The annual Mother’s Day Tea will be May 13 at 10:30 a.m. $8 per person. You are invited to sign up and bring a mother, daughter or friend to this “Hats Off to Mom” event. For reservations call Joanne Haines at 273-9962.

Healing Rooms of Nevada County

The Healing Rooms of Nevada County are open. We pray for healing for the body, soul and spirit. Everyone is welcome whether you attend church or not. We meet at the Outpatient Center Conference Rooms at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital from 7 to 9 p.m. There is no fee and no reservation is necessary. Mountain Stream Meditation Center

Mountain Stream Meditation Center, a Buddhist Insight meditation group, meets Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Wild Mountain Yoga, 574 Searls Ave. in Nevada City. On Monday Margo Cooper and Don Frazer will lead a discussion about Wesak, a traditional celebration of Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment and Death with chanting of the Refuges and the Heart Sutra. All levels of experience are welcome.

New Covenant Baptist Church

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be in the zone? Pastor Randy will continue with a series called “Living in the Zone.” The message this week is “You’re Invited!”

Peace Lutheran Church

Peace Lutheran Church celebrates the fourth Sunday of Easter this week, traditionally called “Good Shepherd Sunday.” Lessons, sermon and music will all focus on the image of Christ as the Good Shepherd. Services are at 8 and 10:45 a.m., and all are welcome.

Pastor Johnson’s Sunday School class at 9:30 a.m. continues to study the gospel of Mark while Pastor Eatman’s class is reading through the Bible. Sunday School for all ages also takes place at 9:30 a.m.

The congregation will hold a special meeting at noon to discuss plans for building a new fellowship center.

Dr. Paul Maier will present a seminar titled “Christianity and the Competition” on May 13, beginning at 2 p.m. The public is invited; there is a $10 charge, which includes dinner.

Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains

Our congregation is calling its first settled minister. The candidate, the Rev. Meghan Conrad, has spent this last week with us and will speak today on, climbing together: A vision of ministry. She will address: “What might our ministry together be like? Though the road ahead is inevitably filled with peaks and valleys, by holding fast to one another we will not only get there – but be transformed in the process.” After the coffee hour, the congregation will vote on calling her to ministry in Grass Valley.

Sunday services, child care and Sunday School begin 11 a.m. at 246 S. Church St. in Grass Valley. Video of the previous Sunday’s service can be seen on cable Channel 11 at 5:30 p.m Sunday and 1 p.m. Thursday.
