Religion brief

On Oct. 14 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, three LDS churches participated in a day called Christmas in October.

The purpose was to do a service project of making Christmas gifts for people living in nursing homes (Potpourri lighted vases, and padded bulletin boards,) and teaching people how to knit scarfs, make gingerbread houses, Christmas cards, Christmas ornaments, magnets, children’s aprons, meals in a jar soup, dessert in a jar, and Advent calendars.

Christmas Nativities were set up on the stage and Christmas music was played thoughout the day. A lunch was served to all participants.

Thanks to Patty Brinkman, Nevada City, Sherron Baker, Grass Valley, and Karen Rasmussen, Penn Valley, for organizing the event.
