Reject selfishness

I have been dismayed with the new trend of selfishness displayed in our traditionally kind and caring Nevada County. In Penn Valley, residents selfishly tried to use political muscle to keep Mr. King from selling 20 acres of his property by attempting to block the only reasonable access.

There are many who are trying to push high density housing for young and medium income families when they themselves live on expansive country estates. They say they want to help the working families, but really they are selfishly moving to limit these families’ access to rural living.

One of the worst examples of selfishness is demonstrated by some of our supervisors trying to use the housing element of the General Plan as an excuse to rezone many private parcels. This would make the many splittable parcels unsplittable and cause great financial loss to the owners. I appeal to you to reject selfishness and disregard for others in the upcoming election. We need candidates who will stick up for the little guy. It is becoming clear that the candidates who will best care for the interests of the voters are Nate Beason and John Spencer.
