Red Room Salon offers unique holistic approach to hair care

From the eco-friendly salon to the organic hair care products and vegan cosmetics, Red Room Salon offers a holistic approach to hair care and beauty.

Nicole Bratt-Maloney, owner and artistic director, relocated her salon to West Main Street nearly a year ago with the goal of providing this unique approach to maintain hair’s health, strength, color and vitality.

In addition to featuring Eufora organic hair care products, Red Room also offers Stript natural mineral make-up.

“I’m passionate about the environment and health and well-being on all levels of personal care,” Bratt-Maloney says. “People with sensitivities to regular over-the-counter cosmetics containing artificial fragrance, parabens, sulfates and many other harsh chemicals are especially happy to at last find hair care, body care and make-up that they can use. Red Room has been a great discovery for so many who want to live chemical-free.”

The essence of Eufora’s products is certified organic, pharmaceutical-grade aloe vera gel. There are no petro-chemicals, artificial fragrances, colors or preservatives and contain beneficial botanical ingredients and essential oils.

Bratt-Maloney was recently honored by Eufora as their contest winner in naming a new addition to their Urgent Repair shampoo line. She named the shampoo “Detoxify.” She was recognized in Elle magazine and received $500 which she donated to the local chapter of the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition.

Red Room Salon also features Stript, a vegan, all natural mineral makeup line that is free of paraben, fragrance, oils, artificial dyes, talc and synthetic ingredients. Some of the natural ingredients include marine botanicals, gossypium herbacium (cotton fibers,) vanilla, and Japanese honeysuckle and almond as preservatives.

The company, based in Southern California, also promotes fair trade and strives to obtain their natural ingredients from sources committed and involved in the fair trade movement.

Both Eufora and Stript use post-consumer recycled packaging which complements the salon’s eco-friendly efforts. In addition to offering green products, the salon is committed to recycling and energy and water conservation.

For clients who choose to color their hair, stylists offer a gentle, ammonia-free haircolor with enzyme technology and botanicals. The enzymes help keep the color molecules inside the hair shaft instead of washing out and going down the drain and polluting the planet.

“There’s a great sense of gratification when you do your part in protecting the environment!” Bratt-Maloney said.

The Red Room Salon is located at 309 W. Main Street in downtown Grass Valley. You can reach them at 477-1883.
