Red Dog and You Bet roads consider evacuation plan

Next week, residents living on Red Dog and You Bet roads will get an update on a road clearing project and discuss the possibility of a fire evacuation plan.

The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County will hold a Town

Hall Meeting at the Peardale Fire Station on Tuesday, July 24th, 2007 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

There is no county wide evacuation plan and wooded neighborhoods like those on Red Dog and You Bet roads are responsible for drafting their own emergency exit strategies. State and local fire officials and the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services will discuss evacuation planning at the meeting.

The council will also discuss the completion of roadside clearing on Red Dog and You Bet roads to allow for safe passage of fire engines. The clearing was done with homeowner permission and funded with grant money.

For more information call the the fire safe council at 530-272-1122.
