RE: Our next war

John McCain boasted at the Republican National Convention of hating war, though he left out his part in the killing of 2 million North Vietnamese, one ton of explosives at a time, by referring to them as missions. I now understand how they may have felt toward him after having our own 15 minutes of terror.

What did he expect ” a parade around the lake? Were it Central Park he would not have fared so well.

“Stand up and fight,” he cried at the end of his story at the convention. It was like the Alamo all over again. I could not help but wonder who, like Bush in Iraq, Reagan in Central America, and Johnson in Vietnam, would manufacture the reasons for our next war, and where it would be (though our special forces are very likely there right now and preparing for it just as in our previous five wars).

For everybody’s sake, but especially the very poor who will suffer the most, I hope it’s neither McCain nor Barack Obama who creates the next big lie for the next big war over oil leases.
