Re: Halby’s ‘Other Voices’ piece

In response to “Where U.S. Health Care tops all other systems,” by Anthony W. Halby (Feb. 20) I would like to state that I am one of the individual patients enjoying the best that our present health system offers. (I am, thankfully, on Medicare.)

But I do wonder about how much reassurance Halby’s facts and statistics bring to the uninsured non-elderly (age 0-64) residents of Nevada County. According to the 2005 UCLA Health Policy Study, 20 percent of our residents were uninsured at that time. Five years later, with so many people unemployed, I’m sure there are even more with no access to the best health care our nation could be providing.
