Re-evaluate legal use of fireworks

I would like to thank Dixie Redfearn and Jeff Pelline for their common sense comments on the sale of fireworks in Grass Valley and Nevada City.

I certainly don’t understand Chief Jim Marquis’ comment that legal fireworks cut fire risk. One look at the photos of the Angora Fire in The Union and the Bee should be enough.

Local charities should re-evaluate their fundraising methods. The losses in the billions do not include the emotional loss to so many families. I would not want to put my life on the line so someone could hold their own sparkler. It is time that both city councils rethink their positions. I would think that they would sleep better at night. I know I would.
