Raymond Garrison

Raymond Eugene Garrison died Feb. 28 at his home in Nevada City. He was 88.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 6, at Sierra Presbyterian Church in Nevada City. A reception will follow at Ryosa Hall. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Lake Cemetery in Lamar, Mo.

Mr. Garrison was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Lamar, Mo., to Samuel and Mabel Garrison. He was raised in Lamar with five brothers and sisters and graduated from Lamar High School in 1937. In October of 1942, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary. They moved to Oakland, where Mr. Garrison worked in the paint industry for 38 years.



Mr. Garrison was a leader with his church’s youth group and the Boy Scouts. He played and enjoyed sports all his life, but most of all, he loved his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Garrison is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Louise Garrison; grandsons Scott and Cody Garrison and Christian Santos; three nephews and two nieces.




He was preceded in death by his five siblings and daughter, Jane Santos.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills or Sierra Presbyterian Church.
