Raising red flags

In Bob Glassco’s Other Voices contribution, he writes that “this tool is called The World’s Smallest Political Quiz,” but the sentence is missing one very important word – “recruiting.”

The sentence should be, “this recruiting tool is called The World’s Smallest Political Biased Quiz to get you to join the Libertarian Party.”

If you don’t believe the quiz is a proselytizing device, then go to the Web address offered in the quiz (www.theAdvocates.org) and see for yourself. There, you’ll find a Libertarian Web site; the quiz is put out by it to increase its membership.

There’s nothing wrong with espousing one’s political affiliation; Bob should have been more forthright in his introduction to the quiz by claiming the source of it. Instead, he portrays it as wholly unbiased, objective and all-inclusive in its Libertarian description. In other words, unless one is to the right of Hitler, who can disagree with the broad description offered by Bob of the Libertarian view listed as a result?

Red flags should go up when someone offers you a free, “unbiased” political measuring “quiz.”
