Publishers release anthology of Sierra

Local publishers Gail and Charles Entrekin have just released “Sierra Songs & Descants: Poetry and Prose of the Sierra.”

An open house and book party will be at the Nevada City Winery from 5:30 to 7:30 Tuesday.

All profits from the sale of the anthology will be donated to Literature Alive, a local nonprofit organization that brings writers to the community for readings and workshops.

The Entrekins solicited submissions on the subject of life in the Sierra in Poets & Writers Magazine. There are 55 contributors in the anthology, 35 from the area, almost all of them writing about or coming out of the Sierra Nevada region.

Many of the contributors will attend the book party to sign works. Hors d’oeuvres and wine tasting will be available, and a glass of wine will be included in the price of a book.

Maxima Putnam will very briefly read aloud from the anthology, and Lisa Stine will play harp.

“Sierra Songs & Descants: Poetry and Prose of the Sierra,” ($21) is at The Book Seller, Harmony Books, Odyssey Books, Broad St. Books, Caroline’s Coffee on Old Nevada Highway, J.J. Jackson’s and Mostly Clay.

It also can be ordered online at http://www.hippocket press.com.
