Dance to big band sounds
The Nor Cal Big Bands Preservation Society, featuring Buddy Harpham on saxophone and a 12-piece Big Band with vocalist, will play at the 7th Annual Harvest Ball on Sunday in the main ballroom of Sacramento Elks Lodge #6, 6446 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento.
Included are a free dance lesson, dance hosts, mixers, prizes, along with an array of snacks and beverages. Tickets are $14 per person, $12 each in groups of 10, and only $10 to Gold Card Members. The Society’s yearly Gold Card membership is $24 per person, saving $36 by attending all nine monthly dances.

Enjoy music on the American River
The American River Music Festival takes place Friday though Sunday on the banks of the beautiful South Fork of the American River in the Coloma-Lotus Valley.
Performers include The Waybacks, Joe Craven, Laurie Lewis, Houston Jones, Dan Crary, Beppe Gambetta, Keith Greeninger, Harry Manx, The Dreamsicles, Akimbo and Rita Hosking.
Some folks camp and raft on the river, too. Ticket packages include a one-day river trip, three days camping, meals and 12 music performances. Single day music tickets are $49.
