Prepare for a dance party with the Power of 12

Power of 12 is a high-energy group of 12 musicians with roots deep in the local area.

Previously known as the Tribe, and then as Real George, the group is now celebrating its 18th birthday this weekend at Cooper’s Ale Works in Nevada City.

Sporting the hot five-man P12 horn section, the band enjoys playing musical styles that smaller bands don’t have the instrumentation to cover. Several band members share lead singing duties, highlighting the variety of musical and vocal styles the band enjoys dabbling in. Mark McCartney and Rob Holland are sitting in this weekend on drums.

Power of 12 brings together a diverse collection of musical tastes and experiences to deliver an enthusiastic stage performance of original and popular music. They perform funk, high-octane R&B and world music with the rhythmic support of two percussionists.

The fat sassy horn sound rings out in their own original tunes, as well as the musical styles they borrow from Tower of Power, Sly Stone, Aretha Franklin, Prince, James Brown and others.
