Pot bust seems like huge waste of money

I just read about the big pot bust on the South Yuba. Big whoop! Who cares? Do we really have to pay our local taxes to support this kind of thing?

Airplane flights, 30 law enforcement people, surveillance, K9 units and all the rest. Can our law enforcement people not find some better way to spend their time than hunting down so-called “Mexicans” (!!) who grow pot in the woods? Who cares? It’s about as important as what John Edwards does in his bedroom and who he does it with.

Sheesh! I’d feel much better if they’d busted meth labs, or kept abusive husbands away from their poor wives and girlfriends, or perhaps the money could have been spent in schooling our young people (horrors! Reduce class size? Why, that’s not even patriotic!). Or maybe it could have been spent in helping shut-ins.

So what did this bust cost us? And how did it help us? Seems like a serious lack of imagination and a huge waste of money to me.
