Positive light

I moved to Nevada County two years ago, and I don’t pretend to completely understand the politics of this area. However, I was shocked and dismayed to see The Union’s blatant, negative editorial attack on Bruce Conklin.

This is a man who has worked on behalf of this community for over 20 years. As a former supervisor he has made constructive improvements for our county. Perhaps there were some small improprieties around Land Trust monies, but the Land Trust and the renovation of the North Star House can only be seen in a positive light.

If The Union is supporting John Spencer for District 3 supervisor, why doesn’t it just take the higher ground and editorialize on the strengths he brings to Nevada County. Why denigrate and defame Mr. Conklin’s integrity, a man who has already proved his interest and belief in the health and vitality of our community.

Is The Union, a newspaper which should be part of the impartial media, improperly trying to influence a political campaign?
