Poor planning

I wonder what is wrong with the Grass Valley Planning Commission or whomever is in charge of building permits. Moule Paint and Glass, Hills Flat Lumber, DeMartini RV and Weaver Auto were all given a very hard time with their plans to build new buildings. They are all done, except DeMartini, and they are very nice and are a benefit to Grass Valley.

Why, then, did the city of Grass Valley allow such an atrocious building as the Holiday Inn take place? There is nothing aesthetic about it. It looks like a bunch of boxes that were thrown together with no rhyme or reason. The little awnings and stone work look false and cheap. There is no color coordination nor anything about it that is pleasing to the eye. This is one of the first things that visitors to Grass Valley see, and I feel we should give them a good impression. This is a beautiful area, and we shouldn’t cheapen it.
