Carmen Sterba, Jack and Adelle Foley and Judy Crowe will be guest readers at the Oct. 18 Nevada County Poetry Series in Grass Valley.

Open mikes will be before and after the guest performances at Center for the Arts, 314 W. Main St.

Admission to the 7:30 p.m. reading is $7 general and $5 for seniors and students.

The 12th annual Nevada City Fall Antique Show and Sale will run from Oct. 18-20 at Miners Foundry Cultural Center.

Admission is $3 for the Foundry benefit.

Doll appraisals by Flo Ward will be available all three days and general antique appraisals by John Humphries will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Appraisals at $2.50 are limited to two per attendee.

Antique show and sale hours are noon to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. A champagne reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Before closing for the season, the Grass Valley Video History Museum will hold its semiannual free Antique Power Exposition Oct. 19.

Antique engines, trucks, old cars, steam- and gas-powered tractors, generators and pumps will be displayed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Starting at 10 a.m., videos on Nevada County’s history will be seen in the adjacent Al Dilt’s Thimble Theater.
