Poetry series featuring 3 writers

Three writers who also teach will be featured at Friday’s Nevada County Poetry Series at Center for the Arts.

John Deaderick, a Nevada County resident, teaches English and theater arts at Colfax High School. He is also an adjunct professor in theater arts at Sierra College-Nevada County Campus.

Maria Melendez, a writer-in-residence at the University of California at Davis, leads multicultural environmental poetry workshops and prose workshops through the university.

San Franciscan Grace Marie Grafton, who teaches through the California Poets in the Schools program, has received numerous California Arts Council teaching grants.

The reading is at 7:30 p.m. at the center, 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley. An open mike will be before and after the guest readings.

Admission at the door is $7 general and $5 for seniors and students.
