On Feb. 9, Soroptimist International of Grass Valley presented this year’s winner and runner-up for the Violet Richardson Award to two Bear River High School students. Both of these young women are members of the Elite Leo Club at the school. They have both held club offices and have organized and participated in a variety of club activities which have supported the local community.

Winner of this year’s award is Rachel Wilson. The runner-up is Emily Wilde.

The Violet Richardson Award recognizes 14-to-17-year-old young women for their volunteer activities in the community.

This award is named for the founder of Soroptimist International, Violet Richardson. A financial contribution will be made by Soroptimist of Grass Valley, to the Elite Leo Club of Bear River High School in recognition of Rachel and Emily’s contributions to our community.
