Pay-what-you-can show proceeds go to Theater

All proceeds from a benefit performance of “The Glass Menagerie” Wednesday at Nevada Theatre will go to the Nevada Theatre Commission.

Since last season, Foothill Theatre Company has offered one “pay what you can” benefit performance during each production for two reasons: to make live theater available to everyone regardless of finances, and to help local nonprofit organizations. Theatergoers pay whatever they choose.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. at Nevada Theatre. Tickets will be available at the door starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Proceeds will be used for the construction of a handicapped-accessible restroom for the theater. Commission manager John McDade said construction should begin before the end of this year.

The nonprofit Nevada Theatre Commission operates and preserves the historical landmark theater on 401 Broad St. in Nevada City.

For more information about the construction, call the Nevada Theatre Commission at 265-6161. Call FTC at 265-8587 for questions about “The Glass Menagerie” tickets.
