Paul Summers

Memorial services for Paul Kenneth Summers of Penn Valley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Grass Valley. Burial will be at the Indian Springs District Cemetery in Penn Valley.

Mr. Summers died Tuesday, Feb. 1, in Grass Valley. He was 78.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1926, in Bluff City, Kan., to Himame Elwood and Edith Maurine Summers. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947, during World War II. He married Hilda Alderson on April 16, 1948, in Carmel by the Sea. He was self-employed sales and service and rental of small equipment. He enjoyed vegetable gardening.



He is survived by his wife, Hilda Summers of Penn Valley; son, Wendell Summers of Penn Valley; daughter, Paulette Shockley of Missouri; brother, Clayton Jay Summers of Jackson; sister, Betty Jean Bushell of Kansas; granddaughters Susan and Kathy of Missouri and Tara of California; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Summers, in 1993; father, Himame Summers, in 1969; and mother, Edith Summers, in 1976.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Lambs Preschool at First Baptist Church of Grass Valley.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
