Patrice Hilstad

Friends are welcome to attend memorial services at 11 a.m. April 5 at Chapel of the Angels Mortuary, 250 Race St., Grass Valley, for Patrice “Pat” Hilstad. Mrs. Hilstad, of Grass Valley, passed away March 24 at Springhill Manor. She was 66.

Mrs. Hilstad was born May 23, 1940, to Russell and Onie Bryan in Los Angeles. She graduated from La Habra High School and attended Fullerton Junior College.

Mrs. Hilstad was employed in Nevada County as a waitress at The Office and The Pine Cone Café and as an operator at the Nevada County Answering Service.



She was a member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly and was president for two years of The Widowed Persons Association of California Ð Nevada City Chapter.

Her hobbies included dancing, doll collecting, antiques, traveling and reading.




She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Julie Eccarius of Grass Valley, Dwayne and Brenda Eccarius of Grass Valley and Anthony and Heather Eccarius of Chico; sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Tom Crouch of Rough and Ready; grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas and Dereck Eccarius of Grass Valley, Amanda Eccarius of Auburn and Alexandra Eccarius of Chico; great-granddaughter, Karissa Connel of Auburn; nephew and his wife, Daniel and Kristie Crouch of Rough and Ready. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hilstad.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.

E. Jean Holt

No services are currently planned for E. Jean Holt who passed away March 23 in Grass Valley. She was 74.

Mrs. Holt was born Dec. 29, 1932, to J. Richard and Helen Braun in Kellogg, Minn. She graduated from St. Catherine School of Nursing in 1953 and from Cal State, Los Angeles.

Mrs. Holt was a registered nurse and a director of nursing in Los Angeles.

On May 19, 1969, she married James M. Holt in Los Angeles.

She enjoyed reading, gardening and her cat, Snowball.

Mrs. Holt is survived by her stepdaughter, Cynthia Holt of Los Alamitos; sister, Mary Agler of Mariposa; brother, Robert Braun of Kellogg, Minn.; friend, Paul Ruiz; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Holt in 1999 and by four sisters, Dorothy Anderson, Carol Braun, Darlene Braun and Mildred Gluth.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
