Partisan politics

Punitive action taken by Karen Bass against Nicole Parra should trigger the concern of our citizens.

Partisan politics should never have the power to trump the responsibility of our elected representatives, which is to be the representative of all the people of their district regardless of any party affiliation.

Nicole, properly and rightly, acted on behalf of her district and whether or not I agree, she should never be faulted for doing so. She would be wrong to place party affiliation above the desires of her district.

The power of party leaders to influence our legislative process is alarming and is eroding the democratic principles upon which this nation was founded.

We, the citizens, should have been appalled to find out that the Democratic Party presidential nominee is not selected based on the will of the majority of registered Democrats of the nation, but by a select group of Democratic Party favorites and leaders whose primary purpose is to remain in power.

We, as citizens, need to elect those who will represent us as constituents, not those who will be political party robots.
