Park’s outbuilding

The letter on Saturday about Grass Valley failing to clean up the streets reminded me of the situation at Memorial Park. I was privileged to again attend the stirring service on Memorial Day and was again irritated by the restroom situation there.

The close-in bathrooms in the main building were locked again this year, leaving only the outbuilding way over by the parking lot. This in itself is wrong because most of the attendees are senior citizens who need closer facilities.

But the outbuilding was absolutely disgusting. I don’t believe it had been cleaned since last summer. Paper and water all over the floor, dank, dirty and dark, no soap at the sink, a small roll of paper towels standing on the filthy counter, a big trash can taking up space in the handicapped stall (no wheelchair could have navigated in there), the toilet lids dangerously loose, the locks on the stall doors not working and no functioning light.

One would think that by Memorial Day it would have been properly serviced, especially since the program attracts several hundred people. What is the problem, Grass Valley? Is your Public Works Department functioning or not?
